In case any one needs or enjoys some very specific recommendations, here are a few things I’ve been using lately that make everyday life a little easier, a little more enjoyable, and as human as ever.

More details than anyone asked for, below.

embroidery samplers.

I’ve entered my embroidery era, otherwise known as as wow does my central nervous system need a novel way to navigate nonstop outrage and overwhelm era, which happens to be coinciding directly with my fuck you, AI era, which is growing more furious and fervent by the day. I made a very plain Jane lampshade for a little couch-side lamp recently and I was thinking about adding some v chic embellishments to it and wondered if I could maybe level up my heretofore self-taught embroidery skills for the project. Rebecca Ringquist, who is one of the most delightful humans on ye olde internet, has also been doing a series of very convincing pitches for her online embroidery workshops lately and so I decided to take the plunge. Rebecca’s approach is both refreshing and familiar. There are no hard and fast rules, nothing is overly precious, and she somehow manages to encourage creative adventure while providing enough practical guidance to ensure I’m not just looking at a pile of tangled embroidery floss. I’ve been enjoying every minute of diving in, and learning something new, most especially the chain stitch, which is satisfying in a way that I can’t really explain and won’t try to.
