cabinet cleanup.
when the going gets tough, a writer on deadline organizes the kitchen cabinets.
Revisions to the first proof pages of MAKING THINGS are due at the end of this week and so over the weekend I did what any writer on deadline might reasonably be expected to do, and reorganized the kitchen cabinets.
While the tasks of the week ahead were looming large, and the brain space available for tackling them was limited by the immediate pressing needs of three kids at home, I homed in on spice jars and tea bags, over which I could work some quick magic and make satisfying headway.
Tidying is something I tend to turn to whenever other things feel haywire (and things do certainly feel haywire right now), but as I removed jars and boxes from the cabinets and wiped the shelves clean and then filled them back up again, it struck me that organizing a cabinet is not so different from organizing a book.
