my week in objects (mostly).
halloween and other things.
It’s Halloween, which means that kids all over the country are getting ready to eat as much candy as humanely possible and that millions of families are about to lose their ability to buy groceries. What a world. I don’t know much, but I do know that our mutual support for each other is necessary to get us through this and whatever else is surely coming down the pike. If you’re someone needing help, or someone looking for ways to help others, I shared this list of places to feed and be fed. Solidarity forever.
1. these poison apples.
{still edible! and this costume for being very nearly finished.}
2. this soda pop pull tab.
{and this costume for having been finished three weeks ago.}
3. this vampire cloak from two years ago.
{and this costume for requiring zero parental involvement.}
4. this childhood trick-or-treat bag.
{and the two big sibs who could be convinced to use pillowcases.}
5. this bag of extra vampire teeth we to give.
{all hands on deck for Halloween, and always.}
other things:
they’ll just go hungry while their neighbors debate whether they deserve to eat.
[the] ethos of stewardship filters down to even the tiniest things.
dying just feels like the ultimate, endless FOMO.
scavenging for rations on a night that is supposed to embody childhood magic.
