We float through
constellations of water lilies,
dip our paddles into the night sky of the morning lake.
Tiny fingers pluck star-crowned berries,
tuck taut orbs into pockets,
to pop into a mother’s mouth,
to send tumbling
down a pillowy path of sun-warmed spruce,
to stain bare feet.
Lake water dries like a blueberry’s bloom on newly browned skin.
Symbiotic organisms sip nutrients from the wind.
Lichen.
Siblings.
Stars.
