recent observations, september.
butterflies, two ways.
Bridge lights twinkling against cotton candy early morning clouds.
Last of the summertime lunches scarfed on park benches.
Yellow jackets hungry for cream cheese bagels and egg sandwiches.
Monarchs on Joe Pye Weed—
butterflies in stomachs.
On the night before school starts,
shoelaces are hand washed in the bathroom sink,
jeans hang on a makeshift indoor clothesline.
There are three backpacks are all lined up.
The sun is still so warm,
our skin is still so toasted.
What are these things called socks?

perfectly captured! yes, what are socks anyway? we will know soon enough, but I am a summer holdout until the equinox on the 22nd! Tis the season indeed for yellow jackets, they were just merely annoying on a patio on the weekend. Love the pic of the still lovely hydrangeas hanging on. I'm holding on to my outdoor flowers as long as I can-still getting pollinators...
This line: “What are these things called socks?” perfect.
